Abstract: |
The vertical geothermal systems are preferred in those cases where the modernization of air-conditioning in a building is necessary (heating-cooling-water heating) and where there is a scarcity of available land because it does not require large coverage areas. To calculate the required length of geothermal heat exchangers international standards exist, instructions and manuals which are presented in this chapter. For dimensioning at given load of heating and/or cooling, there are various methods for both smaller and larger projects that are presented together with the restrictions governing their application. The distribution of winter and summer air conditioning loads should cover geothermal installation is a key element for the design and sizing provisions should cover the maximum need loads throughout the year. Also, the classification of vertical geothermal heat exchangers in categories is presented. Concluding, information concerning the construction of vertical systems is provided.
